Findley: A Free New Smocking Graph

Updated: Feb 13

I designed the Findley Smocking Graph for my nephew's daughter. It is hard to believe but she is already a year old! Time does fly! As Back to School sewing is in full swing, and before you know it, holiday sewing, it seemed now would be a great time to share it! (I also finally sat down and got it graphed). Findley is smocked on a simple gray and white quilting cotton with two shades of Coral. The smocking design is suitable for a beginner, using only wheat, cable and trellis stitches - OK and 3 bullion roses. Complete directions for each of the stitches can be found in The Smocking Stitches Guide. Don't let the bullion roses scare you - I taught my 8 year old niece and she was whipping them out. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see a video showing exactly how to do it! There are only 3 in the design - You can do this!

Here is a close-up of the smocking:

I love the bloomers because every little girl needs a ruffle on her bum! There is a complete tutorial on how to add the ruffle here.

Here is the Free Findley Smocking Graph. The download includes complete directions.

Here is the video on how to stitch a bullion rose.

Enjoy!
