I am so excited to announce my first embroidery kit (or pattern) for you to stitch just in time for Valentine's Day! I have always loved Redwork embroidery and hearts, and the two just seemed to go together perfectly. So this past fall I started work on this little design, and now have the Swedish Heart all set for you to stitch up in time for a Valentine's treat for yourself or someone you love. It would also make a wonderful gift for a fellow stitcher!
One of my great desires is to see younger people embrace embroidery and smocking, and so this pattern is designed for the true beginner. Only two stitches are used: stem stitch and french knots. The pattern includes over 15 step by step photos for both the stitches and assembly of the finished heart, so even the complete novice can be successful! Redwork was often used to teach children to stitch since the embroidery was simple, so a redwork heart is a great first embroidery project, and a great first embroidery kit for Pink Hollybush. Although the directions are geared for the beginner, the advanced stitcher will find this an enjoyable and quick project to complete!
The kit contains:
2 pieces of Linen for the front and back of the Heart
5 inch Wooden Embroidery Hoop
Pattern stamped on adhesive backed Solvy (no need to make sure your stitches cover the pattern, the pattern washes away when you are through)
2 Embroidery Needles
1 skein of Red Floss
2 yards of Red Ric Rac
Detailed instructions with over 15 step by step photos
The finished Heart is 5 inches by 5 inches.
If you would prefer to source your own supplies, or just can't wait for the kit to arrive in the mail, the pattern is also available as an instant download. I hope you enjoy this little heart and once you get it stitched, please share a picture on Facebook or Instagram at #pinkhollybush.
