Setting Sewing Goals: #2017MakeNine

Do you set sewing goals each year? Last year was the first time I did and I met most of them. So, while I am a little late getting started this year, it is time to set some goals!

To help keep me accountable to my sewing goals, I thought I would participate in #2017 Make Nine, a program sponsored by Rochelle of the Lucky Louise blog. Rochelle started Make Nine, inspired by the "Best Nine" round-up on Instagram. You can read all about it by clicking on the link above. By the way, you can find and follow me on Instagram at So in no particular order, here are my goals for 2017!

First up is Sweet Little Kisses pattern by Judith Marquis. I have some wonderful organic knits coming from Denmark to my shop and I know that this simple pattern will be perfect for them. I also received a new serger from Santa this past Christmas and this pattern would put it to good use!

I made this Vogue Pattern (8815) for my daughter a few years ago and she loves it. The top I made for her has seen better days and she has asked for another. She has picked out the fabric and this is my current WIP.

I received the Building Block Dress Book by Liesl Gibson for my birthday and have several ideas for dresses. Liesl provides a dress pattern block and walks you step by step how to create your own design by altering the block. The instruction in this book is amazing!

Another Vogue Pattern (8805), I want to make this with long sleeves and without color blocking. I think it is the perfect dress for the Valentino wool knit I picked up in the New York City garment district a few years ago.

In the handwork category, this was the project from my last Embroider's Guild Meeting and I want to finish this up for Valentine's Day!

I am signed up to take Susie Gay's Infinity Heirloom Christening Gown class at the SAGA Retreat in Boston at the end of March, and I can't wait!

This adorable baby bonnet is a class I took several years ago with Claudia Newton. I have a good start on it and would like to finish!

Another dress for myself, if I get to it - Butterick 6388. Who wouldn't want a dress that feels like a sweatshirt? And of course, a new kit design for Pink Hollybush - this one is already in the works, so hopefully it will be done soon! That's the round-up - do you have 9 sewing or stitching goals for 2017? Pop on over to instagram and share your #2017Makenine!
