Ducky Blanket: a Quick Baby Gift

Updated: Jul 13, 2019

I hope you had a wonderful Easter! My entire family was here for the extended weekend - 11 of us all together, all 3 generations staying at our home. Ever since I was married my family has come for Easter, and I love it; although today I must confess that I am in recovery mode! The dishes are all put away, I still have one air mattress to fold up, and the fifth of seven loads of laundry is in the machine! So, while I continue to recover, I have a quick post and the updated pattern for a baby blanket I made a few years ago. This is a simple baby blanket made from a 30 x 36 inch piece of fleece. The ducky is made from a baby washcloth, or a very thin inexpensive washcloth. A complete tutorial explaining the process of making and attaching the duck can be found here. The water under the duck is stitched with 3 strands of floss and the stem stitch. The wing is backstitched, the beak is satin stitched, and the eye is a french knot. Click here to download the Free Pattern. Bind the edges of the blanket with blanket binding or a pretty fabric, and you have a quick and thoughtful baby gift!
