Meet Honey, a Simple Smocked Knit Dress Pattern.

Updated: Oct 26, 2019

I would like to introduce you to Honey, a simple pull over the head smocked knit dress pattern. Honey and I have spent the last two weeks together going over every aspect of her design. I thought she would come together quickly, after all I started working on her months ago, but somehow getting those final details just right proved elusive. However, once she made her appearance, Honey insisted on being introduced despite my editorial calendar specifying otherwise.

Honey has a mind of her own and doesn't go all in for fancy. She prefers rain boots to patent Mary Janes, a soft comfy knit, to ruffles and lace. She belongs to the girl who owns a butterfly net, finds salamanders in the nearby stream, and has treasures in her pockets. Of course Honey has pockets - how else would the feather her mistress just found make it safely home?

A special thank you to Kelli Fox who beautifully smocked Honey!

Honey is smocked, because while Honey may not be fancy, she certainly isn't ordinary! She can be gathered rather than smocked, or made with a broadcloth insert for those who prefer not to smock on knit fabric. Like all Pink Hollybush Patterns, she comes with a smocking design, step by step photos for both the construction and the smocking, and will be available as a pre-pleated kit. She is out for testing right now, but unless Honey continues to display her stubborn streak, she will be available for purchase soon. I can't wait!
