Join the Counterchange Smocked Tote Bag Workshop!

Learn the easy technique of Counterchange Smocking while stitching this fun and useful bag!

Let's smock a Counterchange Tote Bag Together...

Counterchange Smocking is a form of fabric manipulation. The fabric is gathered and smocked as you go with the fabric providing the grid for the smocking - no pleater is required. The word "Counterchange" refers to a pattern in which a dark motif on a light ground alternates with a light motif on a dark ground. This fun technique is simple to master and allows one to play with color and design as the stitches hide and reveal the different motifs of the fabric.

As winter hopefully comes to a close, this is a wonderful time to take a few moments to try a maybe new to you technique and stitch up this fun smocked bag.  I am Lisa from Pink Hollybush Designs. I have been sewing & creating since a young girl. As a young mom, I found time, difficult as it was to sew for my two girls and sometimes myself. Along the way I taught myself to smock and joined the Smocking Arts Guild of America. I served as the national President of the Guild from 2014-2016 and have my Artisan certification in smocking. I love to champion the art of smocking and to help  others learn to smock so they can sew love into every stitch.  Grab a cup of tea, take a few minutes out of your busy schedule, and slow down by enjoying the rhythm of your stitching as you try something a little different with Counterchange Smocking.
