Sewing Inspiration: The Devil is in the Details

Sewing Inspiration: The Details

I love the fashion trends right now - love, love love them! No, I don't mean the cold shoulder (you can keep that one). Why? Because the trends right now are all about the details, especially fun details, and I LOVE the details! (I even have a Details Board on Pinterest!) As sewists it is so easy to add a special detail that creates that special unique look! So on to some sewing inspiration!

In a previous post, I discussed adding a ruffle (and smocking it while you are at it!) Ruffles are everywhere, and it's simple to add to the edge of a wrapped top or dress. Patterns such as the Nancy Shirt or Keely Top, both from Stylearc patterns have the ruffle built in.

Color blocking is still very much a trend and a simple way to add a unique spin to an outfit - notice its a color blocked ruffle!.

Add a fun trim like pompom or tassels!
