I am always on the lookout for a quick but special baby shower gift. A year and a half ago, I was invited to a shower for the daughter of a good friend. The shower gift for Brady included a jacket and this cute hat. I was told the hat has now become "the" hat. Brady is now on his third one.
My understanding is that the hat is "the" hat because it is warm, but not tight or constricting. It is soft, but not scratchy. Most importantly, Brady can't pull it off thanks to the snap.
Brady is now on his third hat - the original one was a 3 month size, the second was 18 months, and the most recent which will be for next winter is size 3. I had to grade up the pattern!
The hat pattern is the Winter Baby Bonnet, which is a free download from Purl Soho. I modified it by turning the tie into a neck band and adding the snap. The tie is adorable but in my opinion, too feminine for Brady. I made the hat from our French Blue Broadcloth and Organic Cotton Hemp Fleece.
Brady should be all set for next winter with his Size 3 black check flannel version. Yes, something else I made with flannel!
