The Sweetie Pie Romper Pattern Sew Along

This past week I received an email from a customer who had purchased the Sweetie Pie pattern and was smocking and sewing it for her little boy to wear home from the hospital. She is due in December and wondered if I had a video showing how to construct the garment. I realized that I did have a video but had never posted it. So I am correcting that! Here is a playlist that will walk you through how to construct the Sweetie Pie Romper. Several of the needed videos are already up on YouTube, but following the Sweetie Pie Romper Pattern Sew Along steps below will walk you through the process.

1.        If you are smocking the Sweetie Pie Romper pattern in this Sew Along, it is important that you pick the correct fabric.

This video will cover the different options as well as provide several tips to getting a great result when smocking on knits. I have all of tips written up for you in a PDF that you can download if that is helpful.

2.        Pleating knits for smocking.

In this video I show exactly how easy it is to pleat knits.

3.        Sewing the Neckline

When sewing a knit garment, often the most challenging element is sewing the neckline. In this video, I introduce the Sew-along and show you how to get a great result when sewing the neckline.

4.        Finishing the Trousers

The crotch of Sweetie Pie is finished with snaps for easy diaper changes. The legs of the trousers are finished with cuffs or footies. If finishing the trousers with cuffs, follow this video showing how to sew the Welcome Home Trousers. The process is the same for Sweetie Pie.
